Industry good body Beef + Lamb New Zealand has appointed Sam McIvor as its new head.
He replaces Scott Champion who will leave the organisation on April 1 after seven and a half years as chief executive.
Chairman James Parsons said McIvor was an experienced CEO and a strategic thinker with management experience.
McIvor is currently the group general manager farm operations at Ospri and has been CEO Preston Corp Ltd and CEO of New Zealand Pork.
He also worked for Beef + Lamb New Zealand’s predecessor organisation Meat & Wool New Zealand.
As well as being boss of Beef + Lamb NZ, McIvor will be the CEO of the New Zealand Meat Board.
Last year sheep and beef farmers voted in a referendum to give Beef + Lamb NZ a mandate to continue representing them.
