Rotorua wastewater treatment review

A Deed of Understanding between CNI Iwi Holdings Ltd (as land owner) and the Rotorua District Council (RDC) requires that the existing Land Treatment System in the Whakarewarewa Forest, for treated discharge from the Wastewater Treatment Plant, be decommissioned by December 2019. Since January 2014 a Project Steering Committee, appointed by RDC, has been considering possible alternative treatment and discharge options and the environmental effects associated with those options.
